On November 21st, Seattle Seahawks strong safety Jeron Johnson teamed up with local Seattle organization Redeeming Soles to host the first ever “Just Give Food & Shoe Drive.” The event had an amazing turnout, as there were over 300 attendees, all of whom were excited to give back to the local community. Many of Johnson’s teammates were also present at the event including: Richard Sherman, Michael Bennett, Cliff Avril, Byron Maxwell, Kam Chancellor, Bobby Wagner, KJ Wright, Steven Terrell, Heath Farwell, Paul Richardson, Marcus Burley, Malcolm Smith, and DeShawn Shead.
“Seeing the way the team showed up not only to support Redeeming Soles but to support one of their own was overwhelmingly heartwarming,” said Jessica Reasy Executive Director of Redeeming Soles. “Each player was so genuine & kind. Their love of football is apparent, but their love of our community and each other was even more evident on Friday. Because of this we were able to help feed 2500 families and provide over 1800 pairs of shoes to individuals in need this Thanksgiving.”
“It is an honor to be able to work with such an inspiring individual such as Jeron, and the support from his teammates and the 12th man was incredible” said Brittany Gilman, CEO of BG Sports Enterprises Inc. “Redeeming Soles is a fantastic organization and we are privileged to work with them to be able to give back to the community on such a grand level. The success of this event shows us how powerful we can be and how much of a difference we can make when we come together as a community. Redeeming Soles is a non-profit organization committed to providing proper footwear both directly to those in need and to organizations serving the homeless and underprivileged throughout the Puget Sound area. Redeeming Soles distributes footwear on a monthly basis to these local organizations while also adding more organizations as the need arises.
