Antoine Bethea Named 49ers Team MVP

In only his first season in San Francisco, Antoine Bethea has already made an impact both on and off the field. Signing a four year deal in the offseason, Bethea emerged as a defensive leader for the 49ers as he has recorded 82 tackles, one forced fumble and 4 interceptions (one for a touchdown) through 15 games.

On Wednesday, December 24, 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh announced the team awards for this season and named Bethea the recipient of the Bill Walsh Award. Named after 49ers legendary hall of fame coach Bill Walsh, this award is voted on by the coaches and given to the team MVP in honor of his outstanding performance for the season.

Earlier this week, Bethea was also named an alternate to this year’s Pro Bowl which will be played in Arizona on Jan 25, 2015.

As the season comes to a close, we’d like to congratulate Antoine Bethea on a great first year with the San Francisco 49ers. It truly is an honor to work with you and we’re excited for what the future has in store for you! Congrats again!
